Petex donate IPM Suite software licenses worth over £1.3m to Petroleum Students

    Date : 2017/11/01

Petroleum Experts (Petex) is an Edinburgh based software engineering company which specialises in the development of software tools for the oil and gas industry. With over 320 clients worldwide and numerous business and innovation awards, they are recognised as one of
    the leaders in their field.

Petroleum Experts has granted to the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology 10 licenses of its Integrated Production Modelling (IPM) suite and HARDLOCK, carrying an equivalent commercial value of £1,333,300.75. The donation will allow the students following the Petroleum Engineering course to get familiar with this software thus getting an advantage in their future careers as the software is a standard in the oil and gas industry.

    The IPM suite composed of:
PVTP: Predicts the effect of process conditions on the composition of hydrocarbon mixtures - fluid characterization.
MBAL: Is an analytical reservoir tool commonly used for modeling the fluid dynamic reservoir effects - material balance.
REVEAL: Designed to study specialized reservoir effects and assess their impact on the injection, production and enhanced oil recovery from the reservoir - capturing the thermal, rock mechanics and chemistry.
PROSPER: Design and optimization program for modeling most types of oil and gas well configurations.
GAP: Multiphase oil and gas optimizer that models the surface gathering pipeline network of field production systems. GAP integrates dynamically the reservoir model (MBAL) and well models (PROSPER).
RESOLVE: Is the field engineering development tool that manages and control the IPM suite, Reservoir Simulators, Process Simulators to dynamically model, optimize and provide production forecasts of field operating scenarios. RESOLVE enables coupling of most major industry reservoir, process and economics simulation model to better evaluate and operate oil and gas fields.
The IPM suite software donation agreement has been signed between Dr. M. Farhad Howlader, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) and Abdelhamid Guedroudj, Director, Petroleum Experts Limited. The License is exclusively for Educational Institutions. The software License permits use for Training and Educational purposes only.
PETEX was very generous to give their valuable software to our Department of PME. This will help the students for Research and training purpose very much. We thank Petroleum Experts for their co-operation.
